SUNDAY RESET
Whenever I don’t take the time to set myself up for success on Sundays I feel scattered during the incoming week. I feel all over the place and that is not a positive thing for my ADHD!
I am unmedicated for my ADHD and I prefer it that way. However, it does come with its own set of challenges. For example, when I don’t prepare on Sundays, I start my Mondays off in a rush… This means I typically wake up later than I wanted to, and then I don’t have time to cook/eat a balanced meal, then I’m rushing out the door to get to work. Once I get to work I feel rushed to start my work and that doesn’t allow me ample time to get caught up with my team, which then affects their productivity. I’ve found that it’s a cycle and not a fun one to be stuck in.
To combat this, I dedicate Sundays as my reset days. My Sunday reset allows me to prepare for whatever I have coming up that next week, have all of my meals cooked (at least until Wednesday since I’m not a big leftover girlie), and it allows me to think clearly and focus in the way I need. I find that my stress levels aren’t as crazy on the weeks where I’ve prepped during that Sunday prior (imagine that!) No really, ask my Oura ring. Once when I was feeling stressed I decided to check my stress levels on my Oura app and it said my body had experienced heightened levels of consistent stress for 7 hours straight, on a random Tuesday. I can’t remember exactly, but I’d be willing to bet it was one of those weeks where I hadn’t prepped accordingly that Sunday prior for the incoming week.
My Sunday resets are now becoming an act of self-love. I am a homebody by nature, more so now than ever now that I’m fully embracing my newlywed era. I love spending my time making sure our house feels more like a home. Making sure we go to bed every night with a tidy kitchen, laying out my clothes for the next day so I don’t have to roll out of bed and try to put together an outfit before my morning espresso. My Sunday resets also involve me typing out my macros for the week. Because I am typically baking sourdough for the week ahead and meal prepping on Sundays, this structure also allows me to plan out my meals for the week. Which really sets me up for success while I’m at the office. Since my company is growing at a rapid pace right now, I need to have lunch easily accessible to me during the day. I very much look forward to the days where I’m able to leave the office for an hour to go have lunch with a friend, but for now, that’s just not where we’re at. I’m building, which means I’m typically eating while working at my desk- not so glamorous, I know. But a major goal for me in 2025 was to remember to DRINK WATER and eat nutrient-dense foods. When you eat happy foods, they keep you full longer.
My Sunday resets also involve me washing my sheets. In 2025, I decided to switch out all of our bedding to linen bed sheets. There are SO many benefits to sleeping on 100% linen that I can get into in another post, but it is important to note that linen sheets get softer with every wash. And I REALLY look forward to getting into bed with freshly washed linen bed sheets every Sunday night.
Some of these may sound simple to most, but to me, these tasks of self-love are the stepping stones of what’s bringing me back to me this year. I spent the majority of 2024, planning a wedding, growing a business, and pouring from an empty cup. I’ve simply decided to take a different path in 2025, and that all starts with my Sunday Reset. 🤍
